Clear; Loud, As an order; and with Pauses.
In the din of battle, it’s not only the commander who gives orders, because he isn’t always the one who sees the enemy. When a Rifleman sees them, he is duty bound to call out their location using the above acronym. He is to be Clear, loud, deliver it like an order and pause between each piece of information (GRIT – Group, Range, Indication, Target) to ensure it can be understood and acted upon. Nothing new there…
The message of God to us can be contrived to follow a similar pattern. God has been ‘clear’, through His creation about His existence, anyone with eyes can see the glory of an ordered and beautiful universe in perfect balance. The laws of nature themselves are a testament to the stability of all matter.
He has been ‘loud’ in His proclamation of His goodness to us through His Word, the Bible, where we learn who we are, our condition as fallen creatures and the solution, through Jesus and the cross.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.
Psalm 19:1-4
He has been, clear and loud about the command to worship Him and obey His Son (to believe upon Him for salvation), as the only way to be right with God. This is ‘As an order,’ a command, because it is the only way to be saved: if we don’t do it, we will perish.
“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.”
Acts 16:31
He knows our human condition well, and is therefore merciful, compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love towards us; He does not rush to judge us as we deserve, He ‘pauses’ His punishment of our sin, because He wants all of us to be saved.
In this way, God has shown us from His perspective what our needs are, and we would do well to pay attention. He is right on target, because from His perspective, He sees all, knows all and will carry out all that he says He will with regards to removing sin out of the world – which He will do when the time is right.
Jesus paid the price, for all our sins on the cross and sacrificed Himself on our behalf in order to remove the sin which stops us from having a right relationship with God. Notice the clear goodness of God loudly proclaimed in all creation. Seek Jesus, follow the clear order to follow and obey Him, surrender to His will, which has nothing but your good in mind. He is patient and kind and is ‘waiting-out’ for your response, ‘over’…
“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise [to return and put everything right], as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.“
2 Peter 3:9-10
